We visited on the day that they kicked off the holiday season with a special lighting of the city decorations and the tree. As part of the celebrations, they also had a delightful parade that included Santas on motor bikes and a Santa Fun Run. It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages running in their Santa costumes. However, the icing on the cake were the wee 'Santa Paws' that also participated in the race.

One of the highlights of the holiday season in Aberdeen is the Christmas Village, located in the heart of the city. This magical wonderland is filled with charming wooden cabins selling handmade crafts, delicious festive food and drink, as well as funfair rides and attractions for kids and adults alike. Whether you want to sip on some hot cocoa or tuck into some German Currywurst, the Christmas Village is the perfect place to get into the holiday spirit.

The Christmas Village also boasts a fantastic ice-skating rink, perfect for a fun time with friends and family. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a total beginner, gliding around the rink while surrounded by the stunning architecture and Christmas lights is an experience you'll never forget.

And of course, no Christmas celebration in Aberdeen would be complete without a visit to the Christmas tree in Union Square. The towering tree was a gift from Aberdeen's twin city- Stavanger, Norway (whose mayor was there for the lighting ceremony). On our visit, the tree was a sight to behold, covered in sparkling lights and ornaments that lit up the night sky. It's the perfect spot to snap a festive photo or simply bask in the warmth of the holiday season.

Well, that's going to do it for this virtual visit. However, there is nothing like experiencing the Christmas celebrations in Aberdeen, Scotland in person. So, if you happen to be there at Christmas, we suggest you experience the magic for yourself!
