Join us as we set out on an enchanting evening at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh where we explore their celebrated light trail- ‘Christmas at the Botanics’!

Â
With the nights dark and long, this is the time of year when we are eager to brighten up our evenings. Last week, we shared our experience visiting the Giant Lanterns at Edinburgh Zoo. Now, we take a wintery stroll around Christmas at the Botanics- a popular event that we attend annually.
Â
While we, unfortunately, did not have snow during this excursion, we did experience very chilly winter temperatures. With that in mind, if you visit Christmas at the Botanics, be sure to dress in warm layers.
Â
This tour is mostly a photo essay of our evening sprinkled with some songs and poetry inspired by the night’s events. We hope you enjoy it!
'Tis your bright and tiny spark,
Lights the trav'ller in the dark:
Tho' I know not what you are,
Twinkle, twinkle, little star.

Each year you bring to us delight
With brightly shining Christmas light!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
Of all the trees most lovely.

The Frost looked forth one still, clear night,
And whispered, "Now I shall be out of sight;
So through the valley and over the height,
In silence I'll take my way…..
Most beautiful things; there were flowers and trees;
There were bevies of birds and swarms of bees;
There were cities with temples and towers; and these
All pictured in silver sheen!

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, All is bright
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Soon the bells will start
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart
There’ll be parties for hosting, marshmallows for toasting, and caroling out in the snow.
You better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

Thank you to Santa Claus for helping to bring this wee trip to Christmas at the Botanics to a close. If you are in Edinburgh, you can see this delightful event in person. It is on display until the 30th of December. Head to the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh’s website to find out how to plan your visit.
